Wow, have you looked at old blog posts?

I just looked back through several of my blog posts to find when I started eating the Healthful English muffins and Ideal sugar and it was so cool to see what was "happening" in my life! One thing that did not make me happy is seeing that my home was painted inside the middle of April, that's when we paid for 3/4 of the granite to be put into our home, and it is now the middle of July:( UGH:(((((((((
OK, so looking back my weight gain started in May. I started eating the Healthful muffins in February. The Ideal sugar was even before that. They aren't responsible for all of the bad things that I am putting in my mouth. I would love to believe by just removing those things, I could lose back down. Today was 138.3!!! But that is not the case. It is too many nachos, white bread, lay's potato chips, flour tortilla's, and fruit. I have been on a fruit binge since I decided I wouldn't count fruit sugars. So, there it is!
As I have mentioned before, I get it about how artificial sweeteners are bad for us, and I don't use most of them. I Do NOT believe that all of my friends, family and loved ones are going to die a horrible death because they choose to eat artificial sweeteners. My pregnant daughter has a fridge full of diet cherry pepsi. Do I want to wrap my head around what that could do to her or my new grandson? Seriously people, we can't take this too far. Artificial sweeteners very well could have contributed to some peoples deaths, but I doubt it has ever been listed as the cause of death. So with that said, we have to do what makes sense to each of us. If I allow a little sucralose because it helps me get my fiber in, so be it. I would not eat something with sucralose that had no redeeming nutritional value. I think Trina asked why we would use sucralose if we had the stevia, xylotol, etc. available? Because the Healthful English muffins aren't available with those products. I have to make changes that I can make for a life time. Losing weight truly is way easier than maintaining, in my humble opinion! I think that is why some of us who got to where we want to be are struggling. Slowly bad things creep back in and we test to see how far we can take it. Or at least that has been my problem.

So with that said, here's pics from my amazing day yesterday. Truly if laughter would have burned calories, I would have lost 5 lbs! It was awesome!!!
Lastly, the picture of Karson and me looks like I have a fat roll, but it was the waist of my shorts. They were too big around the waist and they stuck out. My tee is also only a medium, but to me I look large:( I really liked it a couple of months ago when I felt thin!

Kayce is in a wedding today so Karson is with his other Gma for the day. It is quiet here, but it is nice:)
Hubby is out mowing the lawn, so I plan to go get more sun.
Blessings and happy scales....

  1. You and I will get back to feeling thin again! I bought myself some skinny clothes the week that won't be worn until September - hopefully they will be a good motivator! :) It's funny how the wrong size clothes make look/feel bigger, don't they? I am glad you are enjoying your summer!

I was pretty sure you had started eating those sucralose items way before your weight gain started. What you said the other day about your hubby being home, I'm sure that is the change that did it. It would take me a while to adjust, eating wise, if I had mine home all the time, I'm sure.

    1. What is so weird is that I measured my waist because I do feel huge and it is an inch larger. That just doesn't seem like it should make me feel so big. I finally asked my daughter to give me an honest opinion and she said she thinks I have body dysmorphia. Maybe that is my brains way of saying "get a grip".'
I just ate a caramel pecan roll, and I ate 1/2 of one yesterday. Do I hope it doesn't make me sick?

  2. First you look awesome in those pictures. I don't know if sucralose will kill us - I just know its not good for us and is not the healthiest option.
We all have to do and eat what works for us for the long haul - not for just right now.
    We are all different.
You do what makes YOU happy.
    Have a great day :-)

    1. Thank you! And you are right about the fruit, I need to rethink that too!

    2. Kay, not sure if you saw this info I posted for Dawn yesterday. May help with your fruit "rethink" ... ;)

“After eating fructose, 100 percent of the metabolic burden rests on your liver.

… fructose is turned into free fatty acids (FFAs), VLDL (the damaging form of cholesterol), and triglycerides, which get stored as fat.

When you eat 120 calories of glucose, less than one calorie is stored as fat. 120 calories of fructose results in 40 calories being stored as fat. Consuming fructose is essentially consuming fat!

If you want to shed excess pounds and maintain a healthy weight long-term, and RADICALLY reduce (and in many cases virtually eliminate) your risk of diabetes, heart disease and cancer, then get serious about restricting your consumption of fructose to no more than 25 grams per day, with a maximum of 15 grams a day from fresh fruit. If you're already overweight, or have any of these diseases or are at high risk of any of them, then you're probably better off cutting that down to 10-15 grams per day; fruit included.”

  3. Kay, it probably really is from having all that fun with your husband, going out to eat and stuff. It's easy to over do it with chips and tortillas and stuff if someone else is having them. About the sucralose, Rosalie is right, you have to do what is best for you and what you can live with forever. I try to stay away from it, but I don't think a little bit will hurt you.
You look like you are having some kind of fun in that pool! You are so lucky to have all those good friends to hang out with. All of you look fabulous!

  4. I don't really buy pre-packaged food anymore (since I started eating this way) so I guess I was thinking of it more in terms of adding it to stuff (did that make sense ... lol). I wouldn't choose to add Splenda when I could add xylitol or stevia. You do what works for you. I decided early on that I'm also striving for much better health not just weight loss and I think for that you have to think about what you're feeding your body - but that's me. ;)

    1. Sadly I do use pre-packaged food. I guess I am too old to change some of my bad ways:) I am so much better than I was though. Small victories!

    2. You're only as old as you feel - you certainly DO NOT look old at all!?@

  5. Kay, you are wonderful and you were succesful once before at losing and maintaining. You know what works for you and it is clear that you know what is causing you to gain right now. But maybe this is just where you are in your life right now. You'll get back to where you want to be in the future. Don't make too much of it. Just watch that you don't go up too high. You'll get back on track when life settles down a bit. Hugs and love!!

  6. You look great, Kay! Maybe it's more a matter of needing to stop eating when your body tells you its had enough. Do you ignore your "I'm satisfied" signal and eat beyond that a lot of the time?

    1. Thank you and yes, I have been ignoring that "satisfied" feeling:( Dang!!!

  7. I hear your concern about the fake sugars and the people you love. Personally I feel that when people don't want to know, or don't care about the danger of fake sugar I have to treat it as someone smoking, even though it's terrible it's still their choice, and many people can go their whole lives smoking and live to be 90. My point is we just never know. Have a wonderful new week tomorrow, I love your pics :)

  8. Kay - you look like you are having a blast! I also think you look great in the yellow shirt.

You are so right, you have to do a plan that you can live with. You will get back in a groove that works for you.

Enjoy your family time! Have a great week.

  9. Hey Kay! Just catching up on all the blogs now... you will get to where you feel comfortable in no time. You always amaze me with that! I bet your daughter has something with the body dysformia thing. I have a bit of that too! Funny how hard we are on ourselves now.
