So.... I am a slug, I do nothing all day but watch TV and play on the computer. I do read sometimes...I am currently reading "Matched", it is similar/same genre as "The Hunger Games" trilogy...which I loved!!! It's OK. I have downloaded some books on my Kindle, but have not read anything on there. I am saying this because I am a very poor role model for "living life". I have my food under control, but not my activity level. Maybe I am enjoying the quiet before the storm of the next few weeks? I am saying this because we all have our weaknesses. Mine is laziness:( I think I need a 12 step program....or a cattle prod.
I did go to Zumba on Wednesday. It was OK:( I do not like the instructor, and I like her less after Wednesday. That is a bummer:( I will go tomorrow, I will!
I have not gotten my netrition order yet. I think Pattie had asked about my almond flour. I ordered Bob's Red Mill because it was familiar. I am anxious to try the Carbquick and syrup for pancakes. I am also excited to try some baked goodies with the coconut and almond flour.
Since we all have agreed to disagree at times I wanted to mention a couple of other things.....(I hope)
The reason I use myfitnesspal.com is not just because it tells me how many calories a day I am eating. But when I am so sedentary, it is a necessary thing to know. You can track different things, and like Amber, I set mine up to track sugar/carbs/fiber/calories/sodium. I personally think calories matter at the end of the day. Our body can only burn a certain amount each day and if we continually go over that amount, we will not lose, we will gain. If I stay within my s/c for the day, I am usually in the right range of calories too.
I also think that Rosalie does not giver herself enough credit for her walking. 2.5 miles a day is 2.5 miles a day more than most people get up and move. I wish I lived near her so I could get my butt out the door! Walking is exercise, it is a weight bearing exercise, which is exactly what we all should be doing. A minimum of 30 minutes a day, 5 or more days a week. I know this. I know how important exercise is. I know that I should move more. And I don't!!!
Another thought is a question?. I bought the Stevia in the Raw in the big bag to make the no bake cookies. I tried using heavy cream instead of almond milk in the first batch and they were awful and very bitter. I was hoping it was the cream. I made another batch today, using the Stevia and they are also really bitter. I didn't throw them away, but I don't think they will be calling my name. It's a bummer. Someone on facebook mentioned the Just Like Sugar, is that allowable? So has anyone else had the bitter after taste with the Stevia in the big bag?
So that is my confession for the day. The good news is that my daughter/grandson will be here next Tuesday, and for 2 weeks, life will be crazy. Then a week of quiet and my husband will be done with work and travel. I guess that's my excuse for my "sluggish" behavior!
I could not post on some blogs today, now I know how frustrating it is for people. I had the same weird word to type in over and over. Even logging out and back in did not help. So if I didn't blog you back, I did read it!
I am so grateful for all of my blogger buddies!
Oh and update on my sister and brother in law, she has lost 23 lbs and he has lost 20. They both cannot believe how much better they feel and how much better they sleep. I am very excited for them!
Blessings all:)
I can't believe you're lazy...maybe you just need a break?
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing weight loss for your family.
Blessing to you!
Kay - I can't find how to reply to you so I picked Jeri's comment to reply to. I agree with Jeri....amazing weight loss for your family.
DeleteI find the more I have to do, the better I am at doing it. The less I have to do, my mentality changes to .... oh I can do that on Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.
Also, I'm the type the doesn't like to go to something if I don't like the instructor (Weight Watchers comes to mind...I couldn't find an instructor that 'speaks to me'.) Is there another place you can go to Zumba?
I have read a few of Rosalie's post and she does walk alot. Walking burns calories too! Go Rosalie!!
Have a good weekend Kay. I'm so glad you posted!
Kay, we all have our problem areas. I would work on continuing looking find exercise that you like to do. If you like doing it, then you'll do it regularly. Sometimes it takes awhile to find what you like doing, but when you stop and think about all there is to do, there really is a ton of stuff to choose from. Just open your eyes wider to what's around you and start trying different things, even things you think that you won't like; you might just find that you actually like it because it taps into a part of you that you didn't realize was there before.
ReplyDeleteFor example, for something that you might not normally think of off the top of your head, if you can afford it, horse riding lessons. There are many people who get hooked after the first time riding a horse, and it's more of a whole body workout than you would imagine. My daughter loves taking riding lessons, and is actually sore after some lessons. When your on the horse, you use whole body muscle control to stay on the horse and control yourself while you up there...balancing, steering, etc. Your muscles get a real good workout. Anyhow, I'm just throwing a thought out there to show you that there's a lot more out there that you can do that you may not have thought about before. I hope you figure it out.
Hi Kay, I'm a bit of a slug myself when it comes to exercise, so I sure can understand. It's this time of the year also I think that makes us more sedentary. When its cold outside and cozy inside. I wish I had a better walking neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about that "Just Like Sugar" myself. If you try it I sure would like to know what you think.
By the way I just finished "The Hunger Games" trilogy myself and really liked it, especially the first and second books!
I am interested in how you like the carbquick too. Just look at the label of whatever you are wanting to try and look at the ingredients to see if it is BFC friendly.
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning I tried Stevia and hated it - so it might be the bag of stevia. That's why I use truvia, to me it tastes the closest to real sugar and hubby loves it too. I only have like 2-3 pks a day.
Tell your sister and hubs GREAT JOB!!
Hey lets start a slug club. LOL cause I am one too.
Have a good one :-)
Kay, it is hard to get your butt in gear sometimes but I have come to realize as I get older that I need to get some type of exercise in. But we all have our problems areas to work out and I am sure you will get with it sooner or later. I am sure when your daughter and grandson get there you will be busy running around. Happy weekend my dear blog friend.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Slug Kay!! Lol. Give yourself a break. It's the dreary winter. You will get your butt in gear soon. Maybe you need to get a dog. The three we have now beg to be walked. I have to walk them or they will have too much energy and drive me crazy!! Just a thought!! Sending hugs and love to you!
ReplyDeleteAnother slug here! I think it's great about your family's weight loss. Good for them :) I need to get back to zumba but find so many excuses not to go there. Sorry to hear you don't like the instructor 'cause that definitely makes it harder to go. As to Stevia, I don't like it. I like Truvia okay, I guess. Haven't really found a BFC friendly sweetener that I like yet. I'm working on it!
ReplyDeleteI totally relate to the slug thing! I have to really motivate myself to exercise, which is horrible because it makes me feel so good!
ReplyDeleteI also think calories count, AND also that Rosalie doesn't give her walking enough credit. 2.5 miles a day is a lot!
I find with the Stevia cup for cup (is that what you got?) that I can't use it cup for cup, otherwise it is way too bitter. I use a tablespoon or 2 in a recipe at a time, and just try to make do with a less sweet dessert. I find that if I use the whole amount of any non sugar it gives me tummy trouble anyway, so it works out.
Hope you are doing well today!
