Well I finally saw the gynecologist about my "sports" injury. I have a tear, up there, that needs to heal or it will have to be surgically done and that is not a good option since I already had vaginal surgery when I had my hysterectomy. My bladder it seems will just have to continue to "lay low". I am not supposed to lift, exercise, do anything at all that would cause that area to pull. He put me on a estrogen pill that goes up there every day for 6 weeks and then twice a week forever after that. The idea is to try and make that area "new" again. Getting old is not for the weak of heart:( I am hoping the estrogen is also a miracle cure for my "male pattern baldness", and all of the other fun things that come with menopause. The thing that I really took out of our visit was that as we get older the skin in the privates atrophies and it is a bad thing. Hormone replacement has once again been proven to be beneficial for many reasons. Ladies, I don't feel any different yet because it has only been 4 days, but I have known so many women that hormone replacement has helped dramatically. If you are close to my age and feel you may be in need of hormones, don't be afraid to look into it. I am getting an MRI done next Monday and that will give more of an indication of what is going on, hopefully I will magically heal! Has anyone had an MRI? I am kind of freaking out. I think I want a Valium first!
My weight has gone up a little bit, but not my waist size. I hope it is temporary as my body gets used to the Estrogen. It is not supposed to cause weight gain.
We had a lot of snow today but my husband shoveled before he left, so the rest didn't really stick. Hopefully it is done for the week. I can't use the snow blower and that worries me:(
Boy is this a Debbie Downer post?
I am soooo excited to see my buddies doing well with their re-commitment to the BFC. As Rosalie will attest, it really does work. I know for me it has been a lifesaver. I wanted to share too that I do eat snack type food and dessert, I just do it during my meals. I only "feed" 3 times a day. Good, bad, or whatever, it works for me. When I have dessert right after dinner, I don't eat as much dinner and I have to account for the dessert. I am still eating my candied pretzels with berries and cool whip. I am a creature of habit and it is a good thing for me!

I miss them....BAD! |
Have a great week:)
HI Kay - I am glad you got the pills but not happy to hear about the surgery or the MRI. I will be thinking about you and hope that you feel better real soon. We are the same age and I still get my period every 28 days just like clockwork. SHEESH!! My doctor said I have to not have it for a whole year to be considered in Menopause. So life goes on.
ReplyDeleteI eat my treats right after my meals and include it in them too.
Have a great day :-)
First of all that picture of you and your grandkids is SO nice!! You look great and the kids are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm four years younger than you but have been in menopause for a few years now. I guess it runs early in my family. I've heard good things about Bio-identical hormone replacement but I haven't tried anything like that myself. I hope the estrogen works for you and you don't have to do the surgery! I've never had an MRI but I heard you just have to lay there and be still. They also have open MRI's if you are claustrophobic.
I think one of my big problems was NOT eating my snacks with my meals, I just ate them when I was hungry. If I introduce them back in I'll think of them as deserts and have them with my meals. Great tip!
Hi Kay! I had an MRI for my knee years ago. I liked it because I got to lie still and rest for a bit! No big deal. Very useful info regarding your situation. I didnt know about the estrogen. I can't wait to stop my stupid period each month. I started when I was 11, so 41 years is a long time and I'm ready to be done. Hope you heal fast! XO
ReplyDeleteKay, you and your grandchildren look so sweet! Sorry to hear of your menopausal and estrogen challenges and hopefully the hormones will do the trick. I hear you about the thnning hair, my body has definitely changed a lot these last couple of year, geesh! Getting older is not for sissies, huh? Hang in there and keep smiling :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are going through that stuff. :( Feel better soon my friend!
